Technical Writer

Mercado Consultants, Inc., located in Ashton, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a technical writer, please see below:

We have an immediate opening for a full-time engineer (any discipline) or architect who has experience writing and/or reviewing technical specification documents for transit projects. The candidate must be local to the DC Metro area, and must be familiar with the CSI 50-Division MasterFormat specifications. A hybrid work location (working from the WMATA office and from home) can be considered.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, revise, and maintain WMATA standard specifications, including Division 1
  • Working collaboratively with others
  • Develop technical documents to support design, construction, contracts, and operations processes
  • Develop and revise solicitation documents
  • Prepare policy and procedure documentation

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in preparing technical specs and documents for rail transit projects
  • Must be familiar with the CSI 50-Division MasterFormat specifications
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments within a transit authority
  • Ability to write clearly and professionally
