Dulles International and Ronald Reagan National Airports (MWAA)

Ronald Reagan National Airport Utilities: Mercado Consultants were assigned the task of creating a GIS network of underground utilities for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Using a combination of precision survey data and attributes gleaned from opening and measuring utility structures, our firm was able to deliver a complete dataset containing sanitary sewer, storm drain, gas, and water system information.

Dulles International Airport Utilities: Mercado Consultants were provided with the estimated locations of electrical and telecommunication structures based on as-built research and aerial photography, which were then field-verified and updated using Trimble GPS equipment, and finally organized into a deliverable geodatabase complete with locational and attribute information. Over 12,000 individual features were verified and/or collected as part of this task.

Purple Line Project (MTA)

Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, Maryland
As part of Mercado Consultants’ ongoing survey of the proposed Purple Line Transit System, GPS-collected data and georeferenced photos were collected for all utility-related features along the entire alignment from Bethesda to New Carrollton, Maryland.

Asset Management (City of Baltimore)

Our GIS analysts worked with the Data Management Division of the Office of Asset Management (OAM) to optimize the service life of water and waste water infrastructure assets throughout the city. Our analysts provided mapping services, geographic analyses such as asset condition and criticality ratings, and monthly metrics including key performance indicators to the OAM for the transition from reactive asset maintenance to proactive asset management.

Managed Lanes Corridor Study (DDOT)

Washington, DC
As part of a transportation study to potentially designate Interstates 395 and 295 as High-Occupancy Toll Lanes, Mercado Consultants compiled and organized publicly-available GIS data into an efficient, usable format for use by civil engineers assigned to the project. Sewer, water, and gas as-built drawings were also georectified using aerial photography to determine the estimated locations of various utility structures and networks, and these were then digitized using ESRI ArcGIS software and converted into CAD drawings.
