Bridge Inspectors


  • Strong verbal, written , and interpersonal communication skills

  • FHWA Bridge Inspection 2-week course.
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within one year
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • 0 to 5+ years’ experience in inspection of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, sign structures, and high mast light poles.
  • Willingness to travel for overnight stays.
  • Willingness to work night shift.
  • Familiar with Maryland MUTCD and SHA Temporary Traffic Control Applications.

A Plus:

  • Familiar with Structure Asset Management Systems (InspectTech, ASIR)
  • FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Course
  • FHWA Ancillary Inspection Course
  • Qualified Bridge Inspection Team Leader
  • Experience with structural design, AASHTO, Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Confined Space Entry Training
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT) experience
  • Familiar with Bridge Inspection Reference
    Manual and AASHTO Manual For Bridge Element Inspection
  • Experience with Maryland SHA, MDTA, MTA, or WMATA.
  • Temporary Traffic Control Manager’s Certification
  • OSHA 10-hour+
  • WMATA RWP Trained.

IMMEDIATE – Procurement Officer

Job Summary

Responsible for facilitating and managing a portfolio of contracts, to be issued by the client, to address a variety of design, construction, remediation, replacement and improvement projects relating to the public transportation assets and systems of WMATA. Will work with various client user groups in assembling the required project scopes, cost estimates, schedules and contractual terms and conditions to promote fair and open competition. Ensures contract compliance, specifically that the contracts rights, remedies, obligations, assignments and risks are maintained among the contracted parties throughout the life of the project. Responsible for managing contract or task assignments, properly identifying, vetting, and advancing potential changes, and ensuring compliance with the contract requirements in support of the project scope of work and objectives.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work closely with client staff to evaluate, develop, and facilitate competitive solicitations to adhere to client schedule requirements. All work must be recorded, tracked, and follow internal quality standards.
  • Work closely with client staff to administer contracts, ensuring that the client receives the specified services and/or materials in accordance with the contract terms and within budget and the schedule using the agreed upon methods for delivery.
  • Ensure that the contracted for services or products received meet defined quality standards.
  • Actively manage scope, schedule, and budget, requests for information or modification while serving as the primary client liaison for contract terms, scope, schedule, and/or budget changes, as needed.
  • Coordinate with various internal consultant team members including Task Leads, Cost Estimating, Scheduling, DBE/Subcontractor Specialist, and other Subject Matter Experts.
  • Work closely and coordinate frequently with the client Task (Project) Manager.
  • Consistently follow established processes and procedures for procurement of goods and services, monitoring post-award performance of successful vendor.
  • Regularly input and update tracking logs and analytical reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of procurement and/or experience in a government or municipal setting, with experience in professional services solicitations or projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Must be local to the D.C. metropolitan area.

Additional Qualifications/Skills

  • Experience working in an A&E Capital project environment is a plus.
  • Experience working in the transportation or transit industries is a plus.

The salary range is likely in the $40-$60/hour range, based on experience and qualifications.
